It was always going to be tough playing the team top of the league away from home but the Treharris boys dug in and ground out a fantastic win.
Three minutes into the game saw the ever alert Connor Jones cross the try line for Treharris, following a charge down on the 5 metre line, ensuring he stays in the race for top try scorer and put Treharris into the lead.
Aberdare narrowed the points margin with a penalty on the 15 minute mark and took the lead with another penalty soon after. 6-5
Treharris stood firm in defence but were penalised for offside and this enabled the home side to increase their score to 9 points.
Aberdare lost a player to a red card on the half hour and this stirred Treharris on, the resulting pressure saw Ross Jones convert a penalty to keep Treharris in the frame 9-8
The Aberdare No 10 showed great skill and dropped a goal from the restart to take the home side score to 12.

The opening play of the second half saw Aberdare increase their score with their first try in the corner which they converted 19-8
Treharris opened up the Aberdare defence with some quick tap penalties and were rewarded when scrum half Steve Parry crossed the try line with Ross Jones converting. 19-15. It was all to play for.
Treharris started to increase the heat and the pressure saw Treharris play in and around the Aberdare 22 metre line. The visitors were rewarded with a scrum on the 5 metre line with Steve Parry crossing for his second try and taking Treharris into the slimmest of leads. 19-20
Treharris kept Aberdare out in the remaining 5 minutes to secure the win.
Treharris showed their mettle with the most dogged and gritty team performance so far.
