Treherbert kept in front in the opening 20 minutes with two penalties. The score remained 6-0 at half time, the highlight of the first half for the visitors was a solo run by Daniel O'Neill crossing the try line but the score denied by the touch judge. Treharris made a strong start to the second half with John Ross Owen leading some powerful forward charges. The Treharris defence stood firm against a strong Treherbert pack. A rolling maul saw the home side gain territory and a drop goal increased the home side score to 9-0. A further penalty saw the Treherbert score reach 12-0. Treharris increased the pressure in the last 10 minutes with forwards and backs combining but failed to score. Overall this was a spirited Treharris performance against a powerful Treherbert side who won the Division 5 title last season.
