Treharris were looking forward to this trip to the Cardiff suburbs and filled the 52 seater coach.
Our forwards are holding their own this season and were relishing this encounter. It was disappointing to find that Llandaff North didn’t have a front row and opted for passive scrums.
The Treharris squad demonstrated the strength in depth this season and the coaches had some strong replacements to call upon. It was a welcome back to Adam Morgan who showed what a power house he is with always getting over the gain line.
Llandaff North were well organised defensively but that didn’t stop Ross Jones crossing to open the scoring for the Phoenix. 0-5
It was Llandaff North who took the opportunities and took the lead with two tries and penalties to make the score at half time 15-5.
In the first half Cory Lloyd was unlucky not to be awarded a try when the Ref dismissed his try for a double movement.
Treharris stepped up their game in the second half with Adam Morgan powering over to double the Treharris score to ten. 15-10.
Rhys Davies started on the wing in this game and was like a terrier in the loose upsetting the Llandaff players. Rhys was rewarded when he seized on a loose ball and crossed the try line. Ross Jones put us back in the lead with the conversion. 15-17
Treharris were hungary to finish the game off and the forwards pressure saw Adam Morgan crossing the white wash for his second try and a well earned bonus point.
Final score: Llandaff North RFC 15 Treharris Phoenix RFC 22
