The Treharris players were looking forward to this fixture following the disappointment of not beating the league leaders in mid-week.
The Old Illtydians showed why they were second in the league and dominated the play in the first half, it took them 25 minutes to get on the score sheet with a try which they converted. 0-7
A penalty for a high tackle saw Treharris narrow the margin with Ben Jones stepping up. 3-7
Ricky Allsopp took the initative and broke the visitors defence to put Treharris in the lead with Ben Jones converting. 10-7
The vistors doubled their score with a converted try. 10-14. They extended their lead with a penalty 10-17
The Treharris team showed what they are made of and started to play some top class rugby, our forwards were outstanding and set the platform for some individual displays of brilliance with Andrew Llewellyn, Ricky Allsopp and Ben Jones all contributing.
Andrew Llewellyn broke on the half way line and scored a fine solo effort between the posts with Ben Jones converting to equal the score 17-17
It was a combined backs move which finally sealed the win for Treharris with Harry Evans shrugging off the Old Illtydians defence to score the final try of the game.
