The Phoenix made the very short trip to Ynysowen for the WRU Bowl 1^st round.

Treharris were penalised for off-side in the first 5 minutes and Ynysowen took the first points of the game 3-0. It took the visitors another 15 minutes to level the score when the home side were penalised for a high tackle on Steve Biggins. Ross Jones obliged 3-3.

Treharris took the lead when Ross Jones converted a penalty for off-side 3-6.

Andrew Llewellyn was the most alert at the line out and was rewarded when he collected a loose ball, side stepped the defence and crossed for the first try of the afternoon. Ross Jones converted 3-13

Ynysowen doubled their points tally with a penalty 6-13

The Treharris back row and centres combined to break the Ynysowen defence and put Dale Evans away for a try under the posts. Ross Jones converted.

Ynysowen narrowed the margin on the half time whistle with a penalty

Treharris showed some intent in the opening minutes of the second half with John Ross a blood replacement for Jared Thomas went through the Ynysowen defence like a wrecking ball. Ross Jones converted.

Rhydian Jones took up the mantle for the backs and sliced through the Ynysowen defence. Ross Jones converted 9-34

It wasn’t a great second half with some indiscipline breaking up the flow of the game. Dan O’Neill seized a loose ball and powered his way over the line. Ross Jones converted.

Ynysowen left it late to get their try and crossed the whitewash for the final score of the game which they converted

Another great team performance following on from last week.

A final mention to Ben Jones who despite his status as one of the best up and coming No 10’s in Wales does a fine job week in week out running the line and bringing on the kicking tee.  A Treharris unsung hero.
